Semolina is an Italian staple. It's a coarse pale-yellow flour ground from hard durum wheat used to make traditional pasta.
In a culinary sense, seasoning is the process of flavouring, usually with salt and pepper (but depending on the cuisine it can also mean chilli powder, vinegar or lime/lemon juice).
It is also the method of preparing new cooking equipment (such as iron frying pans, griddles, woks etc) by coating with oil sprinkled with salt and placing over high heat. This is to prevent subsequent rusting and sticking of foods.
