Air Fryer White Fish

For cooking fish in an air fryer, I typically use the commercial perforated sheets for lining the floor of the basket. These allow the air to circulate almost as normal and make removing the fish much, much easier. This is particularly important due to the flakiness of the white fish.

Ingredients:

340g (12 oz) tilapia filets, or other white fish
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
1/2 teaspoon onion powder, optiona
sea salt, to taste
fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
fresh chopped parsley, to garnish
lemon wedges, to accompany

Method:

Pre-heat Air Fryer to 180°C for 5 minutes.

Rinse and pat dry the fish filets. Spray or coat with olive oil spray and season with garlic powder, lemon pepper, and/or onion powder, salt and freshly-ground pepper. Repeat for both sides.

Lay a perforated air fryer baking paper inside base of air fryer then lightly spray the paper with oil. (If not using a liner, spray enough olive oil spray at the base of the air fryer basket to make sure fish does not stick).

Lay the fish on top of the paper, then addd a few lemon wedges next to fish.

Air Fry at 180°C (360°F) for about 6-12 minutes, or until fish can be flaked easily with a fork. (Timing will depend on the thickness of the filets, how cold the filets are and individual preference.)

Lift the fish to serving plates with a fish slice, sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve warm with the toasted lemon wedges. Season further with more salt and ground black pepper, if needed.

If you want to cook fish and chips at the same time, cook the chips first, according to the air fryer chips recipe then add in the fish for the last 10 minutes of cooking. Continue cooking until the fish and chips are done.

You can cook the fish straight from frozen and you can have them just cooked through (my preference) or crispy (my wife’s preference).
