I’m adding this recipe as mackerel is one of my favourite fish and air-fryer cooking makes it just so simple to prepare. The fish here was prepared African style, but cutting off the heat and tails and squeezing out the intestines so the fish is left whole. You can just as well use fillets if you like.

Ingredients:

2 whole mackerel, (about 250g [1/2 lb])
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
65g (1/2 cup) plain flour

Method:

Pat fish dry and season liberally on both sides with salt and pepper.

Dredge the fish in the flour and shake off the excess. Transfer to your air fryer basket and cook at 200°C (400°F) for 10 to 15 minutes, gently flipping halfway through, or until fish is golden and flakes easily with a fork.
