This is a continuation of an entire series of pages that will, I hope, allow my visitors to better navigate this site. As well as displaying recipes by name, country and region of origin I am now planning a whole series of pages where recipes can be located by meal type and main ingredient. This page gives a listing of all the Aperitif recipes added to this site.

These recipes, all contain Aperitif as a major wild food ingredient.

Aperitif is a French word for a light alcoholic drink taken before a meal. Ideally an aperitif should stimulate the appetite and tantalise the palate, preparing it for greater things to come. Aperitifs include drinks like pastis, vermouth, anise, bitters or even a white wine like Sancerre. Arak (an aniseed-flavoured clear spirit) is drunk as an aperitif in some Arabic countries, ouzo in Greece and a glass of fino or manzanilla sherry in Spain.

The term can also be applied to a small snack accompanied by wine or cocktail served before a meal.
