Panettone is a large, round yeasted fruit cake from Italy, traditionally eaten at Christmas and Easter. These are baked in a special tubular mould that gives the cake height.
Panettone can be served by itself as a dessert, accompanied by sweet wine or it can be toasted and buttered. It also makes a truly wonderful bread and butter pudding.
