Bolognese is a classic Italian pasta sauce originating from Bologna.

Classically it's made from chicken livers and/or minced beef flavoured with mushrooms and tomatoes along with basil and oregano. However, most modern bolognese style sauces are typically made from a tomato and vegetable ragu in which minced beef or meatballs are cooked.
