Alicha Wots are mildly-spiced stews typically flavoured with the spice blend, alicha kimems. All Alicha Wots invariably contain turmeric.

Ingredients:

750g beef, cubed
3 large onions, finely chopped
250ml vegetable oil
1 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp finely-grated ginger
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp Alicha Kimem
1 tsp sea salt (or to taste)
60ml water

Method:

"
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot and stir in the onion and garlic. Simmer gently for about 10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Add the turmeric and continue simmering over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Now add the beef and water. Return to a simmer and continue cooking for about 40 minutes, or until the beef is tender and cooked through.

Finish by mixing in the alicha kimem and seasoning with salt, to taste. Serve hot with Injeera.
