Porkolt Csirke (Chicken Porkolt) is a traditional Hungarian recipe for a classic dish of browned chicken pieces cooked in a tomato and bell pepper sauce flavoured with paprika. Ingredients:
1 whole chicken, washed and cut into 8 serving pieces
1 large onion, chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp paprika
salt, to taste
2 medium green bell peppers, chopped
1 large, ripe, tomato, chopped
Method:
Heat the oil in a pan and use to fry the chicken and onions for about 8 minutes, or until well browned. Season with paprika and salt and cook for a further 5 minutes. Now add the tomato and bell peppers.
Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes, until the tomato forms a sauce and the chicken is cooked through.
