N'Dizi na Kasted (Banana Custard) is a traditional Tanzanian recipe (from Zanzibar) for a classic dessert of bananas topped with custard and topped with a mix of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, sugar and peanuts. Ingredients:
750ml instant custard (or prepare according to this custard recipe
3 bananas, sliced
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp nutmeg
90g sugar
4 tbsp peanuts, finely chopped.
Method:
Prepare the custard as directed on the packet then divide the bananas between 8 champagne flutes/dessert glasses. Spoon the custard over the top then chill and allow the custard to set.
Meanwhile mix all the other ingredients together and sprinkle a heaped tablespoon over each custard just before serving.
