This is a traditional Cape Malay dish from South Africa. These meat dishes are typically served on the weekend.

Ingredients:

800g lamb loin chops
200g button mushrooms, wiped clean
8 small potatoes, peeled
200ml natural yoghurt
1 tsp salt
2 green chillies, finely chopped
2 tsp crushed garlic
2 tsp fresh ginger, chopped and crushed
2 tsp ground cumin seeds
1 tsp ground coriander seeds
50ml oil

Method:

Combine the lamb, mushrooms, and potatoes in a greased ovenproof dish.

In a bowl, mix together the yoghurt with the salt, chillies, garlic, ginger, cumin seeds, coriander seeds and oil. Pour this mixture over the ingredients in the baking dish.

Transfer to an oven pre-heated to 200°C and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and tender and the sauce is brown and bubbling.

Serve hot with mixed vegetables and garlic bread.
