Ingredients:

420g beef steak cut into thin strips
1 onion, chopped
1 spring onion, finely sliced

For the Sauce:
8 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp sesame seeds
freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
1 tbsp pear juice (optional)

Method:

Pound the beef with a mallet or meat tenderizer then cut into bite-sized strips. Meanwhile, whisk together all the sauce ingredients in a bowl. Then add the meat and onion. Toss to combine, cover and refrigerate for at least an hour to marinate.

After this time, heat oil in a wok, remove the meat from the marinade and add to the wok. Stir-fry the meat over high heat for about 2 or 3 minutes then add the contents of the pan. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook for abut 3 minutes. Turn into a serving bowl, garnish with the spring onions and serve with rice.
