Prosciutto and Parmesan Grissini: A British recipe for a party nibble of puff pastry and parmesan cheese sticks that are wrapped with prosciutto ham before serving, and which are excellent for a Christmas or New Year party.
Ingredients:
1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, lightly beaten
4 tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated
4 slices of prosciutto (Prosciutto de Parma [Parma Ham] would be good)
Method:
Sprinkle a large chopping block with flour, arrange the thawed puff pastry on top then brush the top with beaten egg.
Scatter over the cheese and press lightly into the surface of the pastry. Cut the pastry into 16 strips. Transfer these trips to a lightly-greased baking tray, arranging them about 2cm apart.
Transfer to an oven pre-heated to 200°C and bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking tray for 15 minutes.
Now cut each slice of prosciutto into four thin strips. Carefully wrap the prosciutto around the grissini in a spiral pattern.
