Combine the water and salt in a pan over medium heat.
When the water is nearly boiling, slowly sprinkle in the oatmeal with one hand, while stirring round and round with the cass-spein (the stick end of the wooden spoon) with the other hand.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes, or until the porridge is thick and the oatmeal is tender.
