This is great snack or appetizer that makes wonderful finger food for a New Year party or a nibble for Christmas day.
Pesto Pastry Stars: A British recipe for a party snack of puff pastry topped with basil pesto and cheese and cut into star shapes, which makes an excellent nibble for a Christmas or New Year party.
Mix together the butter and pesto in a small bowl, until well combined.
Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly-floured work surface and evenly spread over the butter and pesto mixture. Sprinkle over the grated Parmesan cheese.
Use a biscuit (cookie) cutter (about 6cm diameter) to cut out stars or other seasonal shapes from the puff pastry sheets.
Transfer to lightly-greased baking trays then place in an oven pre-heated to 200°C and bake for about 10 minutes, or until nicely puffed up and golden brown.
Remove from the oven, transfer to a wire rack and allow to cool completely before serving.
