In effect these are crisps (chips) made from thinly sliced dandelion roots that are oven baked to crisp them up.
Ingredients:
2 cups "/wild-food/common-dandelion">dandelion roots, cleaned and thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Method:
Pre-heat your oven to 190°C (170°C fan) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, toss the dandelion roots pieces with the olive oil until evenly coated.
Sprinkle over the sea salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika; tossing again to ensure they’re well seasoned.
Spread the roots in a single layer on the prepared baking tray, ensuring they don’t overlap.
Transfer to the centre of your pre-heated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the crisps are golden and crispy.
These dandelion root crisps offer a delightful crunch and an unique flavour that’s a step above your average snack.
For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix before baking.
