Golden Grill Barbecue Sauce is a modern American recipe for a classic barbecue sauce made from an orange base, sweetened with sugar, flavoured with cloves and vinegar and thickened with cornflour (cornstarch). Combine the sugar, cornflour, allspice and cloves in a small saucepan. Slowly mix in the orange juice until smooth then add the vinegar and whisk to combine.
Place over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Bring to a boil and cook for three minutes. Take off the heat and stir in the butter.
Use as a glaze for fish and pork or serve as a pouring sauce to accompany grilled white meats, fish and vegetables.
