Frangipane (also known as Frangipani) is an almond-flavoured sweet pastry cream made from milk, sugar, flour, eggs and butter mixed with either crushed macaroons or with ground almonds which can be used for the preparation of various desserts, sweets, cakes and pancakes.

The etymology of the name is uncertain, but most modern commentators believe that it is derived from ts inventor, the 16th-century Italian marquis Muzio Frangipani.
