Dim Sum is a classic Chinese light lunch that's usually served with Chinese green tea. Dim Sum consists of a wide array of dishes that includes combinations of meat, seafood, vegetables, as well as desserts and fruit where the various items are usually served in a small steamer basket or on a small plate.
Dim Sum (點心) is a Cantonese phrase that means 'touch the heart' (ie that you should order to your heart's content). Traditional dim sum includes various types of steamed buns such as cha siu baau, dumplings and rice rolls (cheong fun), which contain a range of ingredients, including beef, chicken, pork, prawns and vegetarian options. Many dim sum restaurants also offer plates of steamed green vegetables, roasted meats, congee porridge and other soups.
