Bonne femme is a term used to mean 'cook in a simple way'. This usually means chicken sautéed and served with white wine gravy, bacon cubes, button onions and garnished with croquette potatoes. It's also used in respect to a soup that's a simple purée of vegetables and stock and of fish in a white wine sauce cooked with mushrooms and served with buttered mashed potatoes.

The term, bonne femme is used to indicate a dish cooked simply, in the manner of the good wife, who cooks frugally.
