Pwdin Moron (Welsh Carrot Pudding)

Pwdin Moron (Carrot Pudding) is a traditional Welsh (Cymric) recipe for a classic steamed pudding of sugar, flour and butter batter incorporating grated carrots, grated potatoes and raisins flavoured with cinnamon. Cynhwysion:

150g moron wedi gratio
150g tatws wedi gratio
1/2 llwy de o garboned o soda
180g siwgwr gwyn
150g blawd plaen
240g resin
100g menyn
pinsiad o halen
1/2 llwy de o sinnamwn

Dull:

Cymysgwch y cyfan gyda'u gilydd cyn trosglwyddo i bowln pwdin 1.2l wedi iro'n dda. Rhoddwch bapur pobi am ben y pwdin cyn gorchuddio'r cyfan gyda ffoi a chlymu'n dyn. Rhoddwch y pwdin unai mewn stemiwr neu am ben soser mewn sosban fawr gan lenwi'r cyfan 3/4 llawn o ddŵr berw. Stemiwch am 3 awr cyn troi'r pwdin ar blât a gweini.

English Translation


Ingredients:

150g carrots, grated
150g potatoes, grated
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
180g white sugar
150g plain flour
240g raisins
100g butter
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together then transfer to a 1.2l pudding basin that's been well greased. Place greaseproof paper over the top then cover in a double layer of foil and tie securely.

Place the pudding either in a steamer or on top of a saucer in a large saucepan, filling it 3/4 full with boiling water. Steam for 3 hours before unwrapping and turning the pudding onto a serving plate.
