Dyma rysáit Cymreig ar gyfer pwdin sbwng clasurol sy'n seiliedig ar afalau; Pwdin Eva wedi'i addasu i weini dau ar gyfer Dydd Gwyl Santes Dwynwen.

Cynhwysion:

2 afala bwyta o'ch dewis personnol (defnyddiais Granny Smith ar gyfer y blas brathog)
sudd 1/2 lemwn
1/4 llwy de o sinamwn
2 1/2 llwy fwrdd o swigwr brown meddal neu muscovado

Dull:

Cynheswch eich popty i 180°C (360°F). Mae angen tun cacen 15cm, un tal, ac nid gyda gwaelod rhydd (neu bydd y suddion afal yn diferu allan) os yn bosibl. Irwch yn ysgafn gyda menyn. Pliciwch a thorrwch allan galon yr afalau cyn eu torri'n dafelli eithaf tenau. Taflwch gyda'r sudd lemwn gan sicrhau eu bod wedi'u gorchuddio'n gyfan (mae hyn yn eu hatal rhag ocsideiddio a brownio). Ychwanegwch y sinamwn a'r siwgr a'u cymysgu’n dda. Hufennwch ynghyd y menyn a'r siwgr am ychydig funudau nes ei bod yn welw a hufennog. Ychwanegwch y fanila cyn curo i fewn yr wyau un ar y tro, gan gymysgu'n drwyadl ar ôl pob un. Hidlwch y blawd i fewn a'i gymysgu nes ei ymgorffori'n llawn. English Translation


This is a Welsh recipe for the classic apple-based sponge pudding, Eve’s pudding adapted to serve two for St Dwynwen’s day.

Ingredients:

2 eating apples of your choice (I used Granny Smith for the tartness)
juice of ½ lemon
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
2 ½ tbsp soft brown or light muscovado sugar
3 tbsp butter (plus extra for greasing)
2 ½ tbsp sugar
1 egg
½ tsp vanilla extract
50g (1/2 cup) self-raising flour

Method:

Pre-heat the oven to 180C (360F). You need a 15cm (6 in) cake tin, preferably tall and not spring-form (or the apple juices will drip out). Grease lightly with butter.

Peel and core the apples and cut into fairly thin slices. Toss with the lemon juice ensuring they are evenly coated (this prevents them from oxidising and browning). Add the cinnamon and sugar and mix again.

Cream together the butter and sugar for a few minutes until pale and creamy. Add the vanilla and then beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each. Sift over the flour and mix until fully incorporated.

Arrange the apples in the base of the tin and top with the cake batter. Transfer to the centre of your pre-heated oven and bake for 25-35 minutes until the sponge is golden and firm to the touch.

This can be served with ice cold milk, cream, ice cream or custard.
