Turkish Baharat

Turkish Baharat is a traditional Turkish recipe for a classic local version of a spice blend that, in many guises, is known throughout the Arabic world; the Turkish version being one of the more complex blends. Ingredients:

2 tbsp fresh ground black pepper
2 tbsp ground cumin
1 tbsp ground coriander
1 tbsp ground mint
1 tbsp ground cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
pinch of ground cinnamon

Method:

Simply combine all the spices in a bowl. Mix thoroughly then store in an air-tight jar. The blend will keep for several weeks (but don't keep more than 2 months otherwise the aromatic oils will be lost).
