This is a classic maize meal porridge that's heavily sweetened and which is typically served for breakfast.
Ingredients:
750ml water
150g ngaiwa (whole, ground, maize meat — typically mealie-meal or white maize meal is used)
120ml milk
pinch of salt
sugar to sweeten
Method:
Combine the water, maize meal, milk and salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook, stirring constantly to prevent lumps forming.
Continue boiling for about 15 minutes, or until the porridge is thick and the maize meal is no longer raw.
Sweeten to taste with sugar (typically a lot of sugar is added) and serve for breakfast.
