In the US 'apple cider' is typically non-alcoholic and more like what we would consider to be sweet apple juice so this recipe is child friendly. Of course, you can make this alcoholic and use cider if serving to adults.
Ingredients:
2 small eating apples, peeled, cored and chopped
6 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp ground ginger
6 allspice berries
2 tbsp brown sugar
60ml water
juice of 1 orange
juice of 1 lemon
4l apple juice
Method:
Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 10 minutes. Strain to remove the spices and serve warm.
