Ingredients:

340g wholemeal flour
340g plain flour
1 tbsp runny honey
2 tbsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp dried dulse, crumbled
250ml Guinness (or other stout)
250ml buttermilk

Method:

Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Add the Guinness and buttermilk and stir into the dry ingredients with a fork to form a smooth batter.

Pour into greased loaf tins and bake in an oven pre-heated to 200°C for about 45 minutes, or until the loaves are well risen, golden brown and crisp on the base.

Remove the loaves from their tins, set aside to cool and serve warm with plenty of butter.
