Gegrillte Bratwurst (Grilled Bratwurst) is a traditional German recipe for a classic dish of bratwurst (German sausage) that's blanched by cooking in beer before being grilled or barbecued and served in bread rolls. Ingredients:
6 bratwurst
330ml can of beer
1 onion, chopped
6 black peppercorns
4 whole cloves
6 hard rolls
Method:
Combine the bratwurst, beer, onion, pepper and cloves in a large (about 3l) saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 20 minutes, or until the sausages are cooked through.
Drain the contents of the pan then place the bratwurst on a barbecue or under a grill and cook for about 10 minutes, turning frequently, or until browned all over. Serve in the hard rolls, accompanied by a Dusseldorf-style mustard.
