Ingredients:

250ml plain yoghurt
140g ground almonds
140g cocoa powder
300g sugar
250ml oil
560g plain flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
3 eggs
1 packet vanilla sugar
3 tsp baking powder
freshly-grated zest of 1 orange

Method:

Combine the yoghurt, sugar and vanilla sugar in a bowl. Stir thoroughly then add the eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly to combine after each addition. Now add the oil, ground almonds and cinnamon. Beat well then sift the flour and baking powder over the mixture. Beat well to combine.

Transfer half the batter to a second bowl. Add the orange zest to the first bowl and beat well to combine. Now add the cocoa powder to the second bowl and beat well to combine (you will have one coffee batter and one orange batter).

Butter a springform cake tin then pour half the orange batter into the base. Level the top then pour half the chocolate batter on top. Repeat with another layer of orange batter and a final layer of chocolate batter. Take a knife or skewer and run in patterns through the batters to create a marbling effect.

Transfer the cake to an oven pre-heated to 180°C and bake for 45 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown on top. Allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
