Melt the butter (or margarine) either in a saucepan over low heat or in a microwave. Combine the cornflake crumbs and sugar in a bowl. Stir thoroughly then add the melted butter and stir to combine. Press into the base and 3cm up the sides of a greased 22cm diameter springform cake tin.
Transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours to set. This makes and excellent base for a no-bake cheesecake it can also be used as the base for a pie or flan and is ideal for those on a gluten free diet.
