Bwiro is a traditional Marshallese dish made from fermented breadfruit. It’s tangy, slightly sweet, and totally unique.

Ingredients:

4 ripe breadfruit
Banana leaves (for wrapping)
String (for tying)

Method:

Peel and core the breadfruit, then cut into strips and wrap them in banana leaves. Tie them securely and let them ferment in a cool, dark place for 3-5 days.

Once fermented, unwrap and bake or steam until soft.

Serve as an accompaniment or as a snack.
