These sweet, fried dough balls are a Bolivian dessert favourite.
Ingredients:
250g flour
100g sugar
125ml milk
50g butter
oil for deep frying
Method:
Sift the flour into a bowl then whisk in the sugar until thoroughly combined.
Dice the butter then rub into the flour and sugar milk until the mixture is crumbly.
Slowly work in the milk until the ingredients come together as a loose dough.
In the meantime, heat oil for deep frying in a wok, deep pan or deep fryer to 180C
Wet your hands with water. Take heaped tablespoons of the dough and roll into rough balls between your palms. Drop into hot oil and fry, turning over half way through until cooked through and golden brown.
Remove with a slotted spoon or spider, drain on kitchen paper and serve warm.
