Can you cook pasta/noodles in the air fryer. Conventional wisdom says no… but conventional wisdom says you can’t cook grains there either. I know you can cook long grain rice from raw (see my recipe for air fryer rice) so maybe some experimentation is needed. I’m starting with instant noodles, starting with two-minute noodles, and then going to 4 minute super noodles. I’m using a similar process as that for rice, starting with boiling water and using foil to create a tight cover for my dish. The result is that, yes, you definitely can cook instant noodles in the air fryer. However, it is a bit of pain getting it right and the tendency is to over-cook.

Ingredients:

1 packet of instant noodles
boiling water (according to packet instructions)

Method:

Pre-heat your air fryer to 200°C (400F) for 5 minutes.

Boil water in a kettle. Add the noodles to a container suitable for the air fryer (either a silicone insert or a solid cake tin). Pour over the water, add the sachet of flavouring and stir. Cover with a lid or secure foil tightly on top.

Carefully place in the air fryer and cook for 8 minutes. Check the noodles and if still not tender return to the air fryer for 2 minutes more. Check every 2 minutes until done.

As a guide, 2 minute noodles will take around 12 minutes and 4 minute noodles will take around 16-18 minutes.

So, yes, you can cook instant noodles in the air fryer, it’s just quicker to cook in a microwave.
