Original Recipe

Dyma bwdin berw diddorol, sydd wedi ei baratoi gyda crwst brau yn lle'r crwst siwet fwy tebygol. Nodwch, i fod yn hollol drwyddiadol, defnyddiwch lard yn lle ymenyn i wneud y crwst brau.

Cynhwysion:

1 pobiad crwst brau
750ml gwsberis

Dull:

Irwch fasn pridd pwdin a gorchuddio’i ochrau a’i waelod â chrwst brau. Llenwch fasn â gwsberis a rhoi haen o grwst ar eu hwyneb. Rhoddwch darn o liain dros wyneb y basn a’i glymu’n dynn â llinyn. Berwch y pwdin mewn hanner llond sosban o ddŵr am ryw awr neu ragor. Taenu siwgr ar y pwdin, a’i fwyta’n gynnes gan arllwys ychydig o laeth oer arno, yn ôl y dewis.

English Translation

This is a really interesting boiled pudding in that it's made with ordinary sweet shortcrust pastry rather than the more usual suet pastry. Note, that to be completely authentic use lard in place of butter in preparing the short-crust pastry.

Method:

Line a greased pudding basin with pastry, fill it with gooseberries and cover them with another layer of pastry.

Seal the two layers of pastry along the top edge of the basin, cover with a clean cloth and tie securely.

Stand the basin in a saucepan, half full of water, and boil for approximately one hour.

Serve while warm and add sugar to taste, together with a little cold milk, if desired.
